Málaga: the second best city in the world to live for foreigners
The charming city of Málaga has attracted many foreigners in recent years. This is not very surprising, as Málaga is a fantastic place to live! A study by InterNations revealed that Málaga is the second best city in the world to live and work in (InterNations is a digital community of expatriates, which covers 420 cities with more than 4.3 million members). Málaga is mainly known for sun, sea and beach, but the city has a lot more to offer! For example, it has the most museums per square kilometre in all of Europe, but it is also safe, has a good healthcare system, a wide range of employment opportunities and very friendly inhabitants. The participants also said that moving to Málaga went very smoothly and they were well received.
Social life
Expanding your social contacts usually goes smoothly in Málaga. There is a lot to do in and around the city. There are several places like the Soho district, Pedregalejo and El Palo, which are overflowing with nice bars and restaurants. In the evening, the city really comes alive and is the ideal place to meet new people. Enjoy a delicious tapas with a cocktail while surrounded by the friendly locals. Furthermore, the city offers a wide range of leisure activities, cultural attractions and, of course, the beautiful sandy beaches. You will certainly not get bored in this vibrant city!
Working in Málaga
Málaga attracts many professionals who are looking for a better quality of life. It is a large, lively, and yet a cosy city. Many international companies come to Málaga because of the pleasant working atmosphere in combination with the wonderful climate. Furthermore, there is a relaxed atmosphere on the work floor in Málaga. A lot of attention is paid to feeling good at work, such as having a nice lunch in the park with your colleagues under the lovely Spanish sun.
Transport
The historic centre of Málaga is almost completely car-free, which is of course very pleasant. Still, you don’t have to worry about the accessibility, because you can reach everything very easily by public transport. The train, metro and bus are always ready to take you anywhere!
Cost of living
Málaga also scores very well when it comes to living costs. The vast majority of people indicated that their income was definitely enough to cover all living costs.
The nice warm temperatures
In Málaga, you can relax under the Spanish sun for no less than 2905 hours per year. You’ll enjoy mild temperatures of up to 17℃ in winter and 30℃ in summer.
Buying a property in Málaga
Are you convinced to buy a home in Málaga? Then the search can begin! Very nice, but of course there is a lot to do. In Spain there are less strict rules than in the Netherlands or Belgium. For example, small defects can be withheld. That is why it is definitely advisable to use an estate agent who knows the market. A nice real estate agency in Spain that we recommend is SLG Property. This is a Dutch-speaking estate agent, who has been active in real estate in Spain for over 20 years and can therefore give you good guidance.
Tips
In Málaga there is currently a very nice new development with luxury apartments and penthouses. Here you can enjoy your home in the centre of Málaga to the full with stunning views over the sea. Are you still looking for a property? Then take a look at Picasso Towers!
Also, this exclusive project with six new properties (of which three are already sold) is definitely worth a look! Not only do you get to enjoy the perfect location, but you also have a private swimming pool.
But also for a smaller budget you will find beautiful properties in Málaga. For example, there is this two-bedroom apartment with a private terrace and a communal swimming pool for only €198,500!
